Overview

To plan, organize, direct, manage and evaluate transportation operations, fleet utilization and transportation budget. The Transportation Manager is also responsible for identifying and implementing opportunities for transportation improvement, efficiency and continuous improvement in fleet utilization.

Responsibilities

Team Management

·       Manages and staffs the Delivery team with adequate resources and talent in order to achieve the desired levels of Organizational Excellence.

·       Coaches and mentors, the delivery team to achieve the desired business results and provides them with the adequate training to sustain Organizational Excellence and competitive advantage.

Delivery Fleet

·       Directs transportation operations including on time dispatching, routing delivery tracking and returns.

·       Sets clear directions to the team to maximize fleet time and capacity utilization and efficiency.

·       Monitors and minimize idle trucks        

Delivery Cost

·       Recommends capital expenditures for acquisition or lease of new equipment.

·       Negotiates and improves hired trucks contracts and costing.

·       Analyze the monthly transportation expenses as percentage of sales Delivery Systems

·       Analyzes the daily routes and train his team to optimize the routes to become more efficient

·       Remains current with latest transportation technology systems.

Delivery Processes

·       Develops and updates transportation policies and procedures.

·       Ensures all delivery staff follow Company policies and procedures including delivery location and proof of delivery.

Delivery Efficiency

·       Communicates with sales team to improve delivery schedules and improve minimum order quantity.

·       Reduces goods returns, GRV’s and re-deliveries.

·       Ensures high service level while achieving 24 hours On Time Delivery (achieve OTIF delivery above 95 %)

·       Build partnerships with customers and communicate with them regularly to speed up unloading time and improve unloading processes.

 

Qualifications

Role Requirements:

  • Education: BA Degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field is preferred. Any additional certifications or qualifications in transportation and logistics is a plus.
  • Language: Good Command of English Language.
  • Computer Skills: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Roadnet Software is a plus.
  • Interpersonal Competencies: Reporting skills – Analytical Thinking – Negotiation Skills – Problem Solving – Results Oriented – Regulatory Transportation Knowledge.

Operational & Managerial Experience:

  • 5 – 8   years of experience in a similar environment
